The Balcones Cup
Rooted in fellowship, camaraderie, and the spirit of competition, the Balcones Cup started as a dream amongst friends to create their ideal golf experience and establish an unforgettable event.
Rooted in fellowship, camaraderie, and the spirit of competition, the Balcones Cup started as a dream amongst friends to create their ideal golf experience and establish an unforgettable event. An event that would capture the essence of any golf fan’s fantasy. Thus, the “Best Weekend of the Year” was born.
Since its first playing in East Texas in 2015, with an inaugural field of 12 players, the Balcones Cup has grown in participation and even greater in following, with an end goal to play some of the finest tournament golf on some of the finest courses the world has to offer.
Inspired by the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, the Balcones Cup follows a similar team-style, match play structure. The tournament is contested annually, fielding two teams comprised of players from all across the great state of Texas. Teams Brazos and Trinity, helmed by their respective Captains and Assistant Captains, battle throughout three rounds of competitive play in an effort to ultimately bring home the Cup.
Dornick Hills
For its eighth playing, the Balcones Cup will be played at the famed Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Built by renowned architect, Perry Maxwell, in 1914, it seemed only fitting that the first Balcones contested out of Texas would be at Maxwell’s first course.
